Wonderful cakes with imaginative design, attention to detail and flair which not only look superb but taste absolutely amazing – that is my passion.

I started baking & decorating cakes about 15 years ago, much to the astonishment of the rest of my family, as before that I had always been a “freezer – microwave – plate” type of cook!!

My mam gave me her recipe for the fruit cake she used when she made mine & my two sister’s wedding cakes, so I tried it one Christmas, and it was delicious. The next year I decided to experiment with decorating the cake too, and it went from there.

I still use mam’s recipe for fruit cake – I have never found one to better it – I call it “Betty’s Fruit Cake” in her memory as sadly we lost her last year. I’ll post the recipe if anyone would like to give it a try. I take a cake into work every Christmas, and let’s just say you shouldn’t drive home after having a piece……but everyone keeps asking when the cake will be arriving, and there is never any left!!

I have now decided to take things one step further from just being something I love doing and recently had my website designed – www.cakesindividuallyiced.co.uk. I have called it Individually Iced because that is how I work – all my cakes are designed specifically for the individual recipient. Have a look at my post “The Edible Tractor” and you will see what I mean.

I have quite a few “individual” projects coming up over the coming months, so I’ll keep you updated on my progress….
